All Pink Everything – June 2014

Image

For a co-worker who is moving on to bigger and better things I made this sweet little number for her going away party! She was the person that I’ve worked with since I started, and now that she’s gone, it’ll be strange working with someone new! It’s a strawberry soda cake, made with strawberry soda! No eggs, no oil, no milk! Vanilla icing, and covered in different shades of pink! The cake really describes her personality, the sparkle, and the color included! I can only wish her luck in her new job, and hope she does the best that she can!! I know that she will do great, and I know she loves the change in pace (not to mention the clothes she gets to wear) 🙂

Graduation Order – May 2014

Image

So there’s been a lot of graduations recently, high school, college, kindergarten. You name it, their graduating! So for a sassy college graduate, I made sugar cookies, hot pick with black accents. “Congrats” “2014” “A” all over the cookies! The cookies turned out great, and I had fun making them! I also made egg-less, strawberry cupcakes to go along with them! hot pink, green, and black were the colors of choice. For the cupcakes I added a few small fondant flowers on top of them, along with a couple of edible crystals in the middle of the flowers. The entire order turned out really cute, and all the colors went well together!

50th anniversary cake

Image

This past week, I was commissioned to bake a 50th anniversary cake, and cookies, for a couple celebrating the golden years! They requested a strawberry cake, and white frosting. I baked two sheet cakes, and carved a “5” and “0” out of them, this was my first carved cake, and it turned out pretty well! I covered them both in satin ice fondant, and used butter-cream to make flowers, which this was also my first attempt to make flowers, I was very pleased with how those turned out as well. For the cookies, I used a sugar cookie recipe, and decorated them in frosting, and edible heart glitter.

This was my first commissioned cake order since we moved closer to the city. I am very thankful for the opportunity and I can only hope the couple was pleased whenever they saw it! 50 years of love is always such a beautiful thing to be able to celebrate, and I was so very lucky to be able to help them celebrate that.

My very first commissioned order!

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

This past February I received my very first order! 2 dozen mini cupcakes, and 3 different cookies styles. The cupcakes were chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. All with different icing, and toppings, as well as design. The cookie styles were, “You melt my heart cookies” with a semi-melted heart marshmallow on top. “Half and Half” heart cookies, red frosting on one side, white on the other, and I used a toothpick to intertwine the two. The last, “Half dipped heart cookies” were you simply dip half of the cookie in melted chocolate. It was a blast, and she was very pleased. Not to mention I bought all the ingredients and baked, and decorated them all within less then 2 days. That includes the packaging and presentation. I was very happy with my work 🙂 Not to mention, extremely grateful for the opportunity!
