All Pink Everything – June 2014

Image

For a co-worker who is moving on to bigger and better things I made this sweet little number for her going away party! She was the person that I’ve worked with since I started, and now that she’s gone, it’ll be strange working with someone new! It’s a strawberry soda cake, made with strawberry soda! No eggs, no oil, no milk! Vanilla icing, and covered in different shades of pink! The cake really describes her personality, the sparkle, and the color included! I can only wish her luck in her new job, and hope she does the best that she can!! I know that she will do great, and I know she loves the change in pace (not to mention the clothes she gets to wear) 🙂

Roger Rabbit Birthday Cakes – June 2014

Image

I was very honored when I was contacted to make not one, but two cakes for a little boy’s first birthday party! not only was it the fact that I got to make two cakes, but they are Roger Rabbit themed cakes! How fun is that? I really stepped my game up this the big one above, I used RKT (rice krispie treat) for the cartoon buildings and first covered them in chocolate and fondant afterwards. The cake is half chocolate, half vanilla. Covered in vanilla icing, and everything on this cake was edible except the lamppost.

Roger himself was a cake topper provided by the client, which really just made the cake perfect!

The second cake was for the kid to dig into himself, so that’s why I covered it in only icing, with roger being the only fondant accents. That way he could really dig his fingers into it! This cake was red velvet (one of my favorite recipes) with vanilla icing tinted blue. I had a blast making these cakes, not only did it make me step out of my comfort zone, but the fact that I was the one they asked to help make his first birthday just a little extra special was a blessing all in itself! The client was very happy with how they turned out, and I can only hope everyone else enjoyed it too!

Image  Thanks to everyone who has followed my journey so far, and I can’t wait to keep sharing it                                                                             as my story unfolds! xoxo

Chocolate Anniversary Cake – June 2014

Image

For a 3 year wedding anniversary, I was asked to make a special chocolate cake for the couple. The entire cake consisted of chocolate, and a little bit of peanut butter. Chocolate cake, chocolate filling, chocolate frosting; and the cage and letters were peanut butter melts! This was my first time making a chocolate cage, and I was very happy with how it turned out! It took a couple tries mainly because chocolate seems to do what it wants 😀 Along with the cage I made a “3” a heart, and “Happy Anniversary” out of the melts as well.

The feedback I got from her was that she loved the cake, and was amazed at the cage. She was very, very happy with the cake and apparently didn’t want to share with her husband 🙂 This cake was fun to make, and there’s so many different options for a cake design like this. I can’t wait to make another one!
