Living in Puppy Love

Chelsea's Iphone Pics 446For the past few weeks, I’ve been totally neglecting my blog posts. Our beautiful boxer, Misty (aka Bear, Nini, NarNar, Princess; many more) had 3 beautiful puppies, and that’s where I’ve been, watching these sweet babes grow! They are currently coming up on 3 1/2 weeks old, and coming into their little personalities; and their voices. Two boys, and one girl (we’re keeping the little girl :D) For now, we’ve given them all names..

Chelsea's IPhone pics 2 057WWE-Payback-Rusev-vs-Big-EThis little guy we’ve named, Rusev after the WWE wrestler. It’s because not only is he the biggest of the 3 but he’s also a dominant little shit talker! He is brindle with with accents, a total cutie pie! He is a very good protector of his little brother, and sister.

Chelsea's IPhone pics 2 052ad8ec44f4f709905ebff2904b3adThis one we’ve dubbed Furious Pete “Petey” mainly because like the human Furious Pete, he is a master of devouring food! Since day 1 he has been, well, furious to get to the milk and I’m pretty sure if there was a timed competition to see which pup could take on the most milk, he would be #1! He is a such a sweet boy; and very loving towards his little sister! He’s also a flashy (white around the neck) puppy.

Chelsea's Iphone Pics 451Last but not least is little, Bailey May! We didn’t name her after anyone, but she’s been through a tough little trial. She was born last, and is the runt of the 3 pups. We had to bottle feed her for the first few days of her life. She had trouble breathing when she was born, and she wouldn’t eat on her own. But we’ve had a vet tell us that her little heart is strong, and considering they’re 3 weeks in, she’s kicking ass in the growing department! She is up walking around, eating on her own; and playing with her brothers!

So now you’ll need to excuse my blog post for filling up your screen with puppy cuteness!

These pups have been such a blessing, and mommy and babies are all doing fine! I hope this brightened up your day, I know it does mine 🙂 Also be on the look out for new cake posts..considering I’ve been hoarding  the pictures since the pups were born!

Captain Spaulding Birthday Cake – July 2014

Devils Rejects Cake

So, my sister called me one day saying she wanted to get a cake made for one of her good friend’s birthday! I asked what his interests were and she told me that he loves the movie, “The Devil’s Rejects” so since Captain Spaulding is a key point character, not to mention creepy/wild looking we went with him as the focal point of the cake. The cake itself was half chocolate, and half vanilla with vanilla frosting. The stripes are fondant, and the Captain himself is a butter-cream transfer. I really, really love how clean he came out, and pretty proud of myself considering how much detail he has, plus my sister really wanted me to “capture the crazy in his eyes” so, I did my best to do just that. Instead of just having the typical “Happy Birthday” I went with “Happy Tutti F#@!& Fruity Birthday” which really just adds to the theme of the cake itself.

I was extremely happy with how it turned out, and not to mention this was my first crime/thiller inspired order! So when I get to step outside of the box with ideas, and designs it’s always an exciting process! From what I was told he was super happy with the cake and he had a great birthday! To any of you Rob Zombie, or Devil’s Rejects fans I hope I made you proud! 🙂

Thanks for checking out my blog!! xoxo

All Pink Everything – June 2014

Image

For a co-worker who is moving on to bigger and better things I made this sweet little number for her going away party! She was the person that I’ve worked with since I started, and now that she’s gone, it’ll be strange working with someone new! It’s a strawberry soda cake, made with strawberry soda! No eggs, no oil, no milk! Vanilla icing, and covered in different shades of pink! The cake really describes her personality, the sparkle, and the color included! I can only wish her luck in her new job, and hope she does the best that she can!! I know that she will do great, and I know she loves the change in pace (not to mention the clothes she gets to wear) 🙂

Roger Rabbit Birthday Cakes – June 2014

Image

I was very honored when I was contacted to make not one, but two cakes for a little boy’s first birthday party! not only was it the fact that I got to make two cakes, but they are Roger Rabbit themed cakes! How fun is that? I really stepped my game up this the big one above, I used RKT (rice krispie treat) for the cartoon buildings and first covered them in chocolate and fondant afterwards. The cake is half chocolate, half vanilla. Covered in vanilla icing, and everything on this cake was edible except the lamppost.

Image

Roger himself was a cake topper provided by the client, which really just made the cake perfect!

Image

The second cake was for the kid to dig into himself, so that’s why I covered it in only icing, with roger being the only fondant accents. That way he could really dig his fingers into it! This cake was red velvet (one of my favorite recipes) with vanilla icing tinted blue. I had a blast making these cakes, not only did it make me step out of my comfort zone, but the fact that I was the one they asked to help make his first birthday just a little extra special was a blessing all in itself! The client was very happy with how they turned out, and I can only hope everyone else enjoyed it too!

Image  Thanks to everyone who has followed my journey so far, and I can’t wait to keep sharing it                                                                             as my story unfolds! xoxo

Chocolate Anniversary Cake – June 2014

Image

For a 3 year wedding anniversary, I was asked to make a special chocolate cake for the couple. The entire cake consisted of chocolate, and a little bit of peanut butter. Chocolate cake, chocolate filling, chocolate frosting; and the cage and letters were peanut butter melts! This was my first time making a chocolate cage, and I was very happy with how it turned out! It took a couple tries mainly because chocolate seems to do what it wants 😀 Along with the cage I made a “3” a heart, and “Happy Anniversary” out of the melts as well.

The feedback I got from her was that she loved the cake, and was amazed at the cage. She was very, very happy with the cake and apparently didn’t want to share with her husband 🙂 This cake was fun to make, and there’s so many different options for a cake design like this. I can’t wait to make another one!

Seester’s Birthday Cupcakes – May 2014

Image

So today is my older sister’s birthday and I cannot express how lucky I am to have a sister like her in my life! She’s someone who really loves to experience life, and makes friends wherever she goes! Every time we get together it’s like no time has passed, and we pick off where we leave off, it’s always fun to hangout, whether it’s going out and doing things, or just hanging out at home with my little fur niece! I made these cupcakes for her, because I am the BEST SISTER EVER 😀 haha, but seriously it’s because I kinda like her.

The cupcakes are homemade from the cupcake, to the icing. I did not make the cupcake liners, unfortunately I’m not at that level yet 😉 They care red velvet cupcakes (my fav) with vanilla icing. Dyed black, and half white to give it a little definition. I then used an edible silver spray to top them off with a little extra shine. They turned out delicious and super cute, not to mention my seester loved them, which is the most important part!

Image

I had a fun time making these sweet cupcakes, and I can only hope my sister has a wonderful birthday today! I love you seester, and I can’t wait to make you more sugary sweets until we’re old and I forget how to make them, so I’ll make mud pies instead!

High School Graduation Cake – May 2014

Image

For a high school graduation in my hometown, I got to make a two layer, chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. I made a buttercream transfer for the school logo, and I was really happy with how it turned out. Especially considering I’ve only done a couple of transfers and this one had a lot more detail to it. But, I am definitely more comfortable with working with them 🙂

I used a 50/50 shortening, and butter-cream recipe so it was able to become a little stiffer then the other icings I’ve used for them. I was very happy with how it turned out, especially since it wasn’t a ton of notice. 🙂

Congrats to any, and all graduates that got to walk across a stage!
